Therapy from the privacy of home can be very freeing.

That’s because online therapy is accessible, convenient, and comfortable.

Online therapy lets you do therapy where you feel comfortable and safe. It allows you to share YOUR story from YOUR setting.

That means you can skip the commute that comes with doing therapy in an office. No more gas, traffic, parking, or awkward moments in a waiting room!

Need to come to session in your jammies? No need to dress up for us! I’m happy to work with you in what feels most comfortable, even those comfort items like the t-shirt that you love most.

And if you’re traveling, there’s no need to cancel your sessions. You can do therapy while away from home! If you’re away on business or a family vacation, you can do your sessions in any private space with an Internet connection – like your hotel room!

How does it compare to in-person therapy?

Studies have shown that online options are as effective (if not more effective) in treating mental health for many people.

Online therapy and in-person therapy are nearly identical in content.

Although we won’t be face-to-face in the same space, I can still effectively help you address the anxiety, depression, or past traumas holding you back from the life you want.

We’ll strategize, establish goals you want to achieve, and make a plan that will steer you toward getting your life back on track – just as we would if we were face-to-face in an office.

Here are some tips for online therapy…

Please remember that some of what we discuss might be inappropriate for children. I know your environment might not always be child-free, but I also want you to get your money’s worth out of every session, which might mean deep-diving into some not-so-child-friendly topics.

So, find a comfortable place that is private and disruption-free. I am happy to work with your schedule to find a time where that’s possible.

You might have a resource person with you on occasion, but I discourage you from having other people in the room during session without talking about it explicitly beforehand. This allows us to discuss exactly what will be shared ahead of time, all in the interest of protecting your privacy!

Please ensure your device (laptop, desktop, cell phone, or tablet) is reliably connected to the Internet before your session. Data can be used to connect, but it often fails to work for an entire hour. Wi-Fi connections are generally more stable.

And phone sessions are available if the Internet is finicky! Dropped your phone and broke your screen yesterday? Need a session while on vacation in an environment that does not have Wi-Fi? No problem. Black Lotus is happy to supplement your video sessions with phone sessions when necessary or more convenient.

Finally, although I encourage you to meet in a comfortable setting, please note that I cannot conduct therapy while you are driving. If you are in your vehicle between meetings or to get some fresh air, that’s fine… but your vehicle must remain off throughout the session.

I believe therapy should be convenient.

That’s why I’m happy to offer online therapy as an option.
